Hrvatska pošta, the official postal operator of Croatia, started 180 years after the issuance of Croatia's first postage stamp with the release of the Croatian Crypto Stamp series. This innovative crypto stamps combines the rich tradition of philately with modern blockchain technology, creating a unique bridge between the physical and digital worlds.

Each Croatian Crypto Stamp consists of both a physical and a digital component. After purchase, the postage section of the stamp can be detached and used for mailing, while the digital element remains permanently recorded on the blockchain. The digital stamps are represented as unique non-fungible tokens (NFTs) based on the ERC-721 standard.

Just like traditional stamps, these NFTs have collectible value, faithfully bringing philately into the digital age. As the tokens are stored on the Ethereum blockchain, they can be preserved indefinitely, offering a new dimension to stamp collecting by protecting digital ownership and authenticity from the effects of time and physical deterioration.
